Honor 10 runs Android 8.1 Oreo with EMUI 8.1 skin and it comes with a locked bootloader.  Like most smartphones, the Honor 10 doesn't make its bootloader unlocked on the go for security reasons. What is a bootloader?

Most people are very much with tech and tech devices. It wouldn't take much time before you come across the word ‘bootloaders’ and how it comes fully locked in smartphones.

The bootloader is a program that starts whenever a device is powered on to activate the right operating system.

Manufacturers lock the bootloader of their devices so that only the operating system installed on the device can be used. However, some manufacturers release their smartphones with the bootloader already unlocked. A locked bootloader will only load the authorized operating systems with a digital signature. The bootloader is found in a section of the phone's memory that can't easily be modified by the user.
To run a custom ROM, you have to unlock the bootloader first and this allows you to install unauthorized software.
