The Rivers State University will on Monday 19 November 2018 resume lectures for 2018/2019 Academic Session despite ASUU strike still ongoing.
This was disclosed in an emergency meeting held today by the school management, Committee of Provost and Deans.
The management said that lectures for 2018/2019 Academic Session for all students would begin with effect from Monday, 19th November, 2018.
The state government had given a directive to the management that if Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU do not call off the strike by weekend, the school will break out from ASUU.
The meeting between the Nigerian government and university lecturers in the before weekend had ended without resolution of the nationwide strike.
Lecturers said the strike which began on November 4 would continue.
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, said government’s discussion with ASUU will continue next week.
