The difference between glo yakata and glo new yakata
Posted on: June 16, 2019, 06:32:46 PM
The day started well with my brother but ended adversely with him aswell. A devout Glo user like me, an internet surfer obsessed about browsing for 'nothing', he becomes the reason for this update!

Towards the evening of one weekday(as we are all back on holiday), he sought my attention to his inability to enjoy the unbeatable benefits of Glo yakata.

At first i cared less and had a doubt about it but when he dialed glo's plan checking code - #100# his tariff plan was 'Glo new yakata' but mine is still 'Glo yakata'. I smelt something dirty from experience but had to keep it to myself.

MTN Nigeria in it's extinct but formerly admired Ipulse tariff plan had a similar dying-off process. New users were relocated to another plan defaulted to those set of users - this is similar to the one Glo is triggering.

MTN also silently removed the plan from it network and this was followed by the simultaneous redrawal of users to the newly made 'Pulse' tariff plan. This might be the same thing Glo Nigeria is doing.

Again from experience, i remember that MTN IPulse and MTN Pulse had the same subscription code but differing benefits. Glo is following this procedure - I was told that there is no two subscription code for 'Yakata' and 'New Yakata' by them!

To be on a safe side rather than speculating, i contacted Glo to give me the difference between 'Glo Yakata and 'Glo New Yakata', below is what i was provided with:

For the subscription codes, it's *220# for both. To unsubscribe from it, checkout the post about how to unsubsribe from any Glo tariff plan.

One thing is sure - Glo may be trying to introduce a new 'less beneficial' plan to replace the popular Glo Yakata. The fact that it's termed 'New' symbolises that the former has been made old and should be retired. It happened with MTN Nigeria with it's 'IPulse - Pulse' alignments. It might happen again with Glo's 'Yakata - New Yakata' alignment.

As MTN did lose a data subscriber, i think Glo Ng should be gearing up receive the same consequence. Anyway, to end the piece on a happy note, No matter what happens - whether Glo 'New Yakata' is to replace 'Yakata' or not, Glo Ng would still remain the biggest 'heavy weight data network' in Nigeria!
