Posted on: March 22, 2020, 03:27:47 AM
Studying Engineering in school is one of my greatest triumph in life, and it's certainly what thousands of Nigerian students are really purposing. However, studying Engineering in a university doesn't actually make you an engineer; it's actually a weighty step towards it. It's just like: you can verily become a journalist without studying any course related to journalism in school; though it won't be as smooth as if you had.

In Nigeria, universities are esteemed higher than other institutions of learning. This makes it an inevitable choice to prospective undergrads. It nearest rival — the polytechnic, is basically a practical based learning system. While the university deals more of researches and theories, the polytechnic relies on projects and realized practicals.

Despite how lively the basic concept of a polytechnic is, polytechnics in Nigeria are underfunded, making it hard to compete favourably with the Universities, as such the disdain placed on it. To be frank, any well-informed applicant would leisurely chose a university over a polytechnic education, anytime, anywhere in Nigeria.

Before applying to study engineering in a university, it is important one understands what it really is. Engineering basically is the creative application of scientific facts, principles and knowledge towards designing structures, machines, and several other manufacturing processes. It's a paying career in Nigeria with the popular departments being:
