David Adeleke was born to Adedeji Adeleke, a business magnate and mother, Vero Adeleke who was once a university lecturer. His extended family is rightly known to be a wealthy one, and the most prolific in Osun state, their state of origin.
Davido is the second son to his father and mum, but is rear in birth placing. He was birthed in the United States, and spent the bulk of his childhood there. The young Davido began his education at the British International School in Lagos but first furthered his education outside the country. His love for music led to his purchase of musical equipments while studying business administration in Oakwood University, an institution which he had to drop out due to his poor academic performance.
However, despite the odds, David Adeleke enrolled and graduated from Babcock University after an agreement between the school management and his father to begin a music department in the school with David being the first of an inaugural class of one.

The first track on the album, "Back When" was released on May 7, 2011 and was produced by Davido.
