WizKid is admired by many for his followers for his effective vocals and meaningful yet subtle lyrics. Ayodeji Balogun reportedly started his music career at age eleven and has in the course of his career made some history for himself. Personal/Early Life





Surulere, Lagos state is the birth place of Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun. He was birthed on a Monday, exactly on 16th of July 1990.

According to reports, he is born into a family comprising of more than twelve siblings, with about twelve of them being females. The dad is reported to be a husband to three women. Meanwhile, while his father is a practicing Muslim, his mother is a Christian.


During his early years as a child, Wizkid listened to King Sunny Ade, Fela Kuti and Bob Marley music thereby spurring him up towards the career path. He attended Ijebu Ode Grammar School and it was during his youthful age that he organised a group of five music lovers into a band called the 'glorious five'. He went with the stage name Lil Prinz until 2006.


It was during his frequent visits to record producer, OJB Jezreel's OJB Point Beat Studios that he observed Face Idibia record songs for his Grass 2 Grace album. He also observed South Sultan during the singer's recording sessions for his debut album Jagbajantis.






According to the singer, Naeto C mentored him in 2005, and four years down the line in 2009, he signed with Empire Mates Entertainment.


Mid-2009, Wizkid dropped out of the Lagos State University (LASU). And in another education pursuit, at Lead City University, he only did two sessions before he had to withdrew as well.

Wizkid is known to have several children, and they are all from different mothers. The music star has about three children, all gotten from his baby mamas, as he's had no known plan yet of settling down into marriage.

Oluwanisola Ogudugu is Davido first baby mama, and he's the mother to the singer's first child and son, Boluwatife Balogun. Jada Pollock, a brand consultant from Britain is Wizkid third baby mama. She is the mother to Zion, Wizkid third son which was the product of an affair the had in 2017. Music Career





While signed to Empire Mates Entertainment, Wizkid released his debut album titled ‘Superstar’ in 2009. The album's lead single "Holla at Your Boy" was released on 2 January 2010. The song got nominated for Best Pop Single at The Headies 2011 and at the same event, it got him the Next Rated award. Due to this same single, Wizkid got nominated for Most Gifted Newcomer Video at the 2011 Channel O Music Video Awards. Meanwhile, the second and third single in the album is "Tease Me/Bad Guys" and "Don't Dull" both released on 2 April 2010 and 6 December 2010 respectively.





WizKid's second studio album got named Ayo and was recorded between 2012 and 2014. The album features artistes like Femi Kuti, Banky W., Seyi Shay, Phyno, Tyga, Akon and Wale. On 2 May 2013, "Jaiye Jaiye" became the first single to be released from the album. "On Top Your Matter" was later released, on October 26, 2013 as the album's second single.


Wizkid released “One dance,” a single he collaborated with drake with the song peaking on Billboard hot 100 chart for ten consecutive weeks. The song also led charts in 15 different countries, including the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, France and Germany.



WizKid signed a record deal with RCA Records in March 2017. Later that same year, he released his third studio album 'Sounds from the Other Side' on 14 July 2017. Among the tracks in the album is "Come Closer" which he featured Drake.


In 2019, he featured on Beyoncé 's "Brown Skin Girl" and he went on to release singles "Joro," "Smile," and "Ghetto Love".

Wizkid is the most streamed artiste on Spotify.
