Musk claims Twitter will charge commercial and gov't users
Posted on: May 04, 2022, 06:19:49 PM
On Wednesday, Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk stated that the microblogging service might charge business and government customers for access.

Twitter revealed the sale to Musk on Monday, April 25, in a $44 billion agreement.

It was a sea change for the board, which had been trying to keep Musk from taking Facebook private in the first place.

In a joint statement announcing the takeover, Musk said, "Free expression is the backbone of a healthy democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where subjects crucial to the future of mankind are debated."

However, in a tweet in the early hours of Wednesday, Musk confirmed that business and government users would have to pay for access to the social media network.

On the other hand, the micro-blogging site will always be free for casual users, according to him.

Tweeting about his decision to open the platform up to commercial and government customers, a billionaire entrepreneur said that free services were the root cause of the demise of great companies.

A small fee may apply to business and government users, he speculated in a blog post.

'Some revenue is better than none,' said the entrepreneur in a tweet reply.

It was the Freemasons' stonecutting services being given away for free, Musk stated in a previous tweet.

Twitter will always be free for personal usage, but business and government users may have to pay a fee.
