FG has activated a mechanism to monitor passports.
Posted on: May 25, 2022, 07:20:17 AM
Passport applicants may now check the progress of their application online thanks to a monitoring mechanism set up by the federal government.

During the passing out parade of the 47th Basic Superintendent Course, 2021/2022, Rauf- Aregbesola, Nigeria's Minister of Interior, said this.

Obtaining Nigerian passports has been one of the NIS's more recent difficulties. We were able to do so and now have a streamlined passport administration process makes me delighted.

He said that an online monitoring system had been launched so applicants could keep track of their application's progress.

According to Emmanuel Bassey, Commissioner, Civil Defense, Customs, Fire Service, and Immigration Board, a computerised application system will be in place by the end of the year.

As I've said before, I'm urging Nigerians to use the NIS online platform to submit their passport applications.

Touts and dishonest NIS officers undermine our efforts to remove corruption and provide a stress-free application procedure.

To prevent any behaviour that undermines the due process, he underlined that it is your patriotic obligation to use the proper channels.

The minister added that their participation with the Nigeria Immigration Service underscored the government's commitment to boosting internal security, of which our borders were a vital element.

According to him, no security measure can operate without secure borders, and foreign criminally minded individuals may invade the nation and exit at a whim if the boundaries are not sufficiently protected.

Cross-border travel is also a means through which illnesses spread, he noted.

In the end, Aregbesola encouraged the staff to put their newfound knowledge and skills to good use.

To understand the NIS, you need to know what it stands for."

It's up to you to protect the nation's borders, as you have been trained.

This minister praised the support of President Muhammadu Buhari for the ministry and the Nigerian Immigration Service as a result.

The minister also praised the acting controller general of the NIS for his professionalism, dedication, patriotism, and the excellent manner in which he had managed the service's business since he assumed office.

According to Idris Jere, acting Comptroller General of the military, officials should always follow norms based on honesty and professionalism while doing their duties.

Thank you, Minister Jere and Federal Government, for your continued support of our operations and efforts in human resource development, said Jere.

Another school official, Comptroller Ado Rano, noted that the 548 cadets were put through sophisticated Border Security and Migration Management training, including physical exercises, to prepare them for the challenges they would face in their future careers.

He praised the school's directors for their dedication and thanked the CGI for the chance they had received.

NAN reported that the leaders of security agencies, traditional rulers, and public members were in attendance at the event.
