Visitors from over 100 countries can now enter Oman visa-free for up to 14 days. The initiative's goal is to boost tourism to Oman, which is already popular due to the country's stunning landscapes, fascinating history, and distinctive culture.

Oman is an Arab state in Western Asia. It crosses the Persian Gulf near its mouth and may be found on the southeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula. A list of nations whose residents are eligible for this new policy has been issued by the Royal Oman Police (ROP).

The list of participating nations includes Portugal, Sweden, Norway, Italy, Bulgaria, Switzerland, Croatia, Hungary, Serbia, Georgia, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Belgium, Romania, Slovenia, Finland, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Cyprus, Ukraine, Spain, Czech Republic, Austria, Ireland, UK, Poland, Slovakia, France, Netherlands, Venezuela, Colombia, Uruguay, Paraguay, Argentina, Brazil, Japan, Thailand, South Africa, Russia, China, United States of America, Turkey, South Korea.

In addition, if an Indian visitor has a valid entry visa for the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, a Schengen country, or Japan, or if they are a resident of one of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and hold a profession recognized by the Omani government, they can obtain a visa upon arrival.

In recent years, the country's government has been actively working on expanding the tourist sector in an effort to diversify the economy and lessen its reliance on oil exports.

Oman has been attempting to improve its infrastructure and establish new tourist attractions, such as five-star resorts, museums, and historical sites, in addition to offering visa-free entrance and visas upon arrival.

Because of these efforts, Oman has been named by a number of international organizations as a top tourist destination in the Middle East and North Africa.

An official from the ROP stated that visitors from 103 different countries can now extend their 14-day visa-free stay in Oman for an additional period of time for a price.

Following the aforementioned date, citizens of these nations will be required to pay OMR20 for a 30-day e-visa that may be obtained online.

If they meet the requirements, they can also apply for a one-year multi-entry visa that will allow them to remain for up to a month on each visit.
The choice to invest in the tourism sector in Oman has paid off, as the number of visitors to the nation will increase by 348 per cent in 2022 compared to 2021.

By the end of January 2023, income from Oman's 3- to 5-star hotels was OMR20.79 million, a 50.8% increase over the same time in 2022.

The number of people staying in hotels rated three to five stars rose by 65 per cent from the same time in 2022 to 173,313. The occupancy percentage also rose, from 40.9 per cent to 53.7 per cent.

Increasing numbers of celebratory events organized by Omran and the governorate offices have contributed to a rise in domestic tourism in Oman.
