About New MTN SIM Profile Picture Verification ordered by NCC
Posted on: September 03, 2015, 07:11:07 PM
Recently Mtn sent a message to me asking me to visit any of their offices with my recent photo to verify and authenticate my SIM registration and i was shocked because i can still remember when i paid N100 to their agents to register my Sim card some years ago and now another Sim profile verification.

When i registered my SIM card, they snapped me and captured my fingers, now i still have to visit MTN office for the second time with my recent picture to verify my SIM card after the first sim registration.

I called MTN asking them why the stress after Sim Registration but they told me that the order is from NCC (Nigerian Communications Commission) but i call it none sense because is only in Nigeria that people don't know that time is money because asking people to go to MTN office with their picture is really not convenient to anyone.

If NCC is desperate to authenticate peoples identity why not do it in a more professional and convenient way, for instance:

Central Bank of Nigeria recently introduced BVN (Bank Verification Number) which stressed most of us and during the BVN customers pictures and fingers are captured and after everything all customers will have his or her own unique numbers that can be used to trace every single information about that person, so now why the stress.

Why not ask MTN Customers to submit their BVN numbers online or through an sms short codes that will enable them check to see if the customers profile matches with his or her profile on MTN Customers profile database and if it doesn't then you can ask the person to visit any mtn office for authentication.

Then those who don't have BVN can be asked to visit MTN for verification.

Just imagine i visited MTN office yesterday and upto 2000 customers are waiting for the verification which is rubbish.

Now MTN is threatening to disconnect any customers that fails to verify his or her own profile.

NCC this is really unprofessional, you people should stop stressing the whole Nigerians all in the name of second missionary journey (Sim Registration VS Sim profile Verification) we have our business to take care of, not to spend all our time in an MTN Offices while as a Computer operator i know there are more better ways to handle such thing without asking customers to visit MTN Offices after the normal Sim Registration.
