Aero airline sacks more than 100 workers by Everest(m) : 10:36 AM On 2016

Aero Contractors Airline weekend sacked more than One Hundred staff of the airline. The workers said to have been outsourced from a labour consultant to the airline were said to have been sacked via text messages.

A top management source in the airline who does not want to be named said the workers were not originally recruited by Aero Contractors and so the airline cannot be held liable for their sack.

The source said, “Those laid off were not staff of our airline. You know in Aero, some departments and duties are outsourced. So what the management did was not to renew their contracts once it expired.

“I can tell you that our staff are in tact and we don’t have the plans to retrench workers. We didn’t have the need of those outsourced and we felt they should be withdrawn from our services.”

A letter to one of the affected workers said that the sacking was as a result of the ongoing restructuring in the airline.

Saturday Vanguard was able to get a copy of the text message announcing the sacking of the workers from one of the affected workers.

The text reads: “Dear Colleague, in light of the ongoing restructuring at Aero, we regret to inform you that your services are no longer required and employment with SBL terminated with immediate effect. Please return all company properties to your manager or supervisor. We regret any inconvenience cause.”
