Health / (Lockdown) 5 Things you should be doing while staying at home during
« Last post by Everest on March 30, 2020, 09:34:28 AM »
Do you have a better idea of how to stay at home for 14 days lockdown as recommended?. Let's make it fun while staying safe and help stop the spread of coronavirus in Nigeria.

Nigeria is about to embark on 14 days lockdown in all the states starting from Monday 30th, 2020 in most states while some state is expected to join the lockdown before Wednesday 1st April 2020. Enugu, Anambra, and Lagos are among the state that will be restricting movements starting from Monday 30th.

However, the lockdown is the necessary measures needed to be taken in other to stop the spread of coronavirus and it's for our good, stay at home and help stop the spread of this virus. Moreover, it's not going to be easy for anyone but we have to do this to protect ourselves and love ones.

5What you should be doing during coronavirus lockdown in your state

Honestly, this is the hardest decision we had to take and I wish there were other ways to handle this situation. Imagine when someone who finds it hard to afford a paint of garri at N500 now had to pay between 1500 - 2000 and the price of everything has increased drastically. The situation has become so terrible in some states that you can't even see food items to buy.

I don't know how you are coping with the situation but one thing is sure we will survive this and even come out stronger. Meanwhile, I have got a few things to share with you that will help make the 14 days lockdown a blissful and interesting holiday for you and your family.

1. Work from home

I understand that not every business model can be down online but if you belong to the category that can completely work from home then you have got nothing to lose rather you will be having real fun working while seeing your family around you.

Some industries or companies now support remote access and help their workers to work from home, all it takes is a laptop and access to the internet depending on the type of work you do.

2. Sleep and Relax

If you are one of those that work from 8 AM - 6 PM daily then it's time to have some rest, sleep as you want and relax with your family. However, you might need to put a few things in place before the lockdown, get enough fuel for your generator because NEPA can't be trusted. I have not seen light for 2 days now. Subscribe your cable and watch your favorite movies and news with your family.

3. Time for deep thinking and planning

If you never have time to think and plan your life then this 14 days lockdown is another opportunity to cross-check and plan how to achieve your goals. While the world is facing a very serious threat from this coronavirus, be rest assured that we are going to come out stronger, so plan for better days ahead.

4. Download and watch your favorite movies online

Staying at home will surely become boring when you are not doing anything but with your smartphone and cheap weekly data plans you can relax and watch funny shows and movies on YouTube. I have listed the best data plan for online Video streaming in Nigeria and If you have extra N1500 for data subscription then you can get more than 6GB for 7 days which is a nice offer. In case you can't find interesting shows on YouTube then try these 20 Best Free Movie Streaming Sites

5. Handle all your transactions online

You can practically do everything online these days, you can pay for GOtv and other cable Tv providers using your phone, transfer money even with a phone without internet using bank shortcodes or your bank mobile app with smartphones. Moreover, you might be asking how you will be able to withdraw your money during lockdown but I don't think they will go as far as locking even the ATM for 14 days but if that is the case then source for the money before the lockdown.

Conclusion

Obey the rules and stay at home for your own good, it is better to suffer now and stay alive than to have all our freedom and die tomorrow. I pray that we all come out of all this coronavirus war stronger. (Stay at home and be safe)

The deadly virus popularly known as coronavirus and tagged COVID19 is getting close to 100 confirmed cases in Nigerian without any sign of slowing down. Nigerians need to take drastic measures to prevent the spread of this virus before it becomes too late.

8 New Cases have been confirmed as gathered from the NCDC this morning which clearly shows that a new coronavirus case now surfaces every blessed day in Nigeria, If we have up to 8 confirmed new coronavirus cases today what about tomorrow. Something must be down fast to avoid competing with the other countries with the highest confirmed coronavirus cases like the USA, ITALY, CHINA, and SPAIN.

The worst is that these countries that have recorded the highest number of COVID19 cases have the technology, good governance and everything required to help their citizens and to stop or at least slow down the spread of the virus but in a country like Nigeria if such happens then what we saw happening in Italy will be a starting point in Nigeria

The break down of the new confirmed cases is as follows:

2 in FCT, 4 in Oyo, 1 in Kaduna and 1 in Osun State, a total of confirmed coronavirus cases now 97 in Nigeria and break down of all the 97 cases are:
  • Lagos- 59
  • FCT- 16
  • Ogun- 3
  • Enugu- 2
  • Ekiti- 1
  • Oyo- 7
  • Edo- 2
  • Bauchi- 2
  • Osun-2
  • Rivers-1
  • Benue- 1
  • Kaduna- 1

How to Protect Yourself

Quote
Older adults and individuals with serious underlying medical conditions such as heart or lung disease or diabetes tend to have a greater risk of experiencing more severe complications from COVID-19.

Read: Nigerian house of Reps acquiring exotic cars while other Nations are fighting COVID 19

1. Clean your hands frequently
Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, particularly after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing, particularly after you have been in a public place.

Using a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60 percent alcohol if soap and water are not readily available. Cover and rub all surfaces of your hands together until they feel warm.
Stop eye contact, nose, coughing, or sneezing.

2. Avoid close contact
Avoid close contact with sick people If COVID-19 is spreading in your culture, put space between yourself and others. This is especially important for people at greater risk of becoming very ill.

How to protect others

Stay home if you’re sick
Stay home if you are sick, except to get medical care

Cover coughs and sneezes
If you cough or sneeze, or use the inside of your elbow, cover your mouth and nose with a tissue. Throw the used tissues in the garbage and right away wash your hands with at least 20 seconds of soap and water. If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60 percent alcohol to clean your hands.

Read: How Coronavirus Outbreak turns into business opportunities in Nigeria

Wear a facemask
if you're sick and close to people (e.g. sharing a room or vehicle), you can wear a facemask before joining the office of a health care provider. If you are unable to wear a facemask (for example, as it creates breathing difficulties), then you should do your best to cover your coughs and sneezes, and people who care about you will wear a facemask when they come in.

If you're NOT sick: Unless you're caring for someone who's ill (and they can't wear a facemask), you don't need to wear a facial mask. Facemasks can be in short supply, so caregivers will be saved on them.

Nigeria is indeed a funny country, other countries of the world are doing everything possible to prevent the spread of deadly coronavirus and to stabilized the infected ones while Nigerians house of representatives is busy acquiring some of the approved 400 Toyota Camry 2020 model, a Luxury car that will cost billions of Naira in total.

Show me average Nigerian legislature who doesn't have at least 3 exotic cars and yet they want more while their citizens are doing of hunger, No electricity, No job, death of innocent Nigerians daily and yet the only thing that matters to them right now is Toyota Camry 2020 model, congrats to Toyota ministry is growing and courtesy of the Nigerian Government.

Presently other countries are not only trying to stop the spread of coronavirus but as well catering for their citizens in one way or the other and as well trying their possible best to keep their economy in check during the trial time of COVID-.19. but what has the Nigerian government done so far?

When I listened to the news some hours ago I heard Nigerian Govt pleading to the general public, individuals and co-operate bodies to support the fight against COVID-19 and indeed some prominent Nigerians are doing their best contributing immensely to the fight against COVID-.19 outbreak in Nigeria.

However, I wouldn't say that the Nigerian Government is not doing anything but their effort is not enough and if they have such amount of money to spend on cars during this trial time then they can surely do more for their Citizens. They have approved a 10 billion Naira grant (about $27 million) to fight the spread of coronavirus.

Sit at Home to stay safe

Some Governors have started to impose sit at home in their various states but my question is, what have these governors done to provide for people they are asking to stay at home without food and electricity to keep them busy. Undoubtedly staying at home is the best way to protect ourselves against this coronavirus but on the other hand, some families eat from pure water hawking business to survive, whats happens to them now?.

Contributions by Government, individuals, Banks and other sectors so far

* The Nigerian government has approved a 10 billion Naira grant (about $27 million) to fight the spread of coronavirus, or COVID-19, in the country.

* United Bank for Africa (UBA) donated 5 billion Naira (about $13 million) to provide beds for isolation centers, intensive care unit facilities and direct access to medical advice to up to 450,000 citizens every day.

* Wealthy Nigerians, members of the private sector including Femi Otedola, Abdulsamad Rabiu, Herbert Wigwe, Segun Agbaje and Aliko Dangote, Africa's richest man, all contributed 1 billion Naira (about $2.7 million) each to support the government in curtailing the pandemic in Nigeria.

The same Government that depends on its citizens to help them fight the coronavirus are the same people that have enough money to buy and share 400 Toyota Camry 2020 model.

What Uk Government are doing to protect their citizens

Uk is refitting its ExCeL London Centre to create thousands of new beds for COVID-19 sufferers, complete with oxygen, ventilators and other key equipment in the battle against the deadly virus. You can see the structure and men at work below.

The exhibition centre, in East London, will become the NHS Nightingale Hospital, creating an impressive 4,000 beds.

Health / How Coronavirus Outbreak turns into business opportunities in Nigeria
« Last post by Everest on March 28, 2020, 01:13:39 AM »
A virus that has forced the entire world and businesses into a standstill situation has become a perfect time and moment for Nigerians to pocket more money. The fear of total lockdown in Nigeria has skyrocketed the price of food items and other commodities up to 100% including sacket water popularly known as "Pure water". A set of pure water that usually costs N1,000 for 11 or 12 bags is now going for 9 bags, N1,2,00 mostly in Onitsha and Asaba Delta state.

The question now is why is the price of things going up, it might be possible that high demand pushed the price or maybe something else that I don't know because even without the demand Nigerians likes making something out of nothing, it doesn't matter if someone is dying or not, it must be a business time for someone somewhere.

Opportunity to make more money

The price of a nose mask and sanitizers has tripled since the coronavirus outbreak, the price of everything in Nigerian has been affected by the coronavirus even things that have nothing to to do with coronavirus

While someone somewhere around the world is struggling to survive Nigerians are busy making more money for themselves. can you imaging that paint of garri has gone from N350 to N1500 in some places and it has become scarce that you can't even see garri to buy when you have the money?. According to my research, the scarcity of garri is caused by the rumor that Nigeria is going into total lockdown in a few days and people a trying to stock enough food to eat if they eventually had to stay at home for weeks.

The question now is, what helps those who can't even afford a paint of garri at the rate of N500 talk more of paying N1200 - N1500, what will be the faith of poor masses or do you suggest that the Nigerian government should support every individual financially?

Well, I don't see that happening at least not in Nigeria that the rich don't care about the poor instead they will even try to make extra money from the ugly situation but guess what?, I across a post on Facebook proposing that Federal Government should pay every individual with valid BVN N250,000 each.

According to the Facebook poster, he wrote:
Quote
#COVID19 The Nigerian Government can budget #150 billion Naria for 500 Legislators. But don't have any package for its citizens sitting at home.  what a country

The calculation above is wrong, 100 billion from the Federal Government cannot give 40 million people N250,000 each but N2,500 but I laughed when I saw the post on Facebook because even the FG is still looking for a way to make money especially now that the oil price has crashed.

Maybe the poster needs to be reminded that his paying 7.5% VAT on every call and text messages he sent and the same apply to the data subscription and yet someone is dreaming of receiving money from Federal Government?. Nothing is impossible who knows.

Stay Safe while making money

The World Health Organisation has provided a comprehensive guide on your can stay safe and as well stop the spread of coronavirus. you can watch this video below are follow the instructions.

Wash your hands frequently
Regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water.

Why? Washing your hands with soap and water or using alcohol-based hand rub kills viruses that may be on your hands.

Maintain social distancing
Maintain at least 1 metre (3 feet) distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.

Why? When someone coughs or sneezes they spray small liquid droplets from their nose or mouth which may contain virus. If you are too close, you can breathe in the droplets, including the COVID-19 virus if the person coughing has the disease.

Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth
Why? Hands touch many surfaces and can pick up viruses. Once contaminated, hands can transfer the virus to your eyes, nose or mouth. From there, the virus can enter your body and can make you sick.

Practice respiratory hygiene
Make sure you, and the people around you, follow good respiratory hygiene. This means covering your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze. Then dispose of the used tissue immediately.

Why? Droplets spread virus. By following good respiratory hygiene you protect the people around you from viruses such as cold, flu and COVID-19.

If you have fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical care early
Stay home if you feel unwell. If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention and call in advance. Follow the directions of your local health authority.

Why? National and local authorities will have the most up to date information on the situation in your area. Calling in advance will allow your health care provider to quickly direct you to the right health facility. This will also protect you and help prevent spread of viruses and other infections.

Specs Overview

If you want to see my personal opinion about Nokia 5.1 then read till the end and through this specification of the overview will find out everything and anything you need to know about this wonderful smartphone.

Nokia 5.1 is a simple and unique Android smartphone with 5.5 inches screen display which is the average size that most smartphones offer, it doesn't look too big like Infinix Hot 8 or but still not as small as some Apple iPhones with 4.7 inches display.

It has 151.1 x 70.73 x 8.27 mm dimensions, 2160x1080 pixels resolutions with 138.3g net weight, the phone is beautified and protected with a capacitive screen, 2.5 D curved Gorilla Glass. However, the selfie camera is positioned at the top left side of the phone while at the back we have the camera, Flashlight and fingerprint sensor aligned vertically at its usual position.

Powered by Android 8

Android 8 might not be the news Android OS but one of the recent OS that adds some enhanced features and user-friendly interface, using Nokia 5.1 gives you access to thousands and millions of apps and games from Google play store. With the MTK6755 Octa-Core processor, you will surely enjoy the performance of this smartphone.

Well, this phone doesn't come with the dual or triple front and back camera like you see in most phones but still offers something nice which is not bad for the price. It has 16 MP PDAF rear camera with Dual Tone LED Flash and 8 MP front camera good enough to capture excellent photos and videos uniquely.

Big Memory at an affordable price

With any amount Above 31K you can buy Nokia 5.1 with 3GB random access memory (RAM) and 32GB internal storage memory expandable up to 128GB which is great for the price. However, 2990mAh battery capacity doesn't look cool for me but let not forget that Nokia phones as we used to know are not all about size but by quality.

The 4G LTE network is one of the major things we consider when buying a smartphone but you don't need to worry about that because Nokia 5.1 is 4G enabled and ready to deliver faster data connectivity. It also supports dual sim, a fingerprint sensor that enables you to secure your phone using your fingers.
