Top 10 Nigerian ISPs by client count, Q1 2022
Posted on: July 11, 2022, 08:05:09 AM
Internet service providers in Nigeria with the most customers at the beginning of Q1 2022 are ranked here; for the last mile connection in Nigeria, the Internet Service Providers (ISPs) are crucial. It would have been impossible for Nigerians to go online without the Internet service providers (ISPs) who distribute this bandwidth to their customers, thanks to international fiber-optic connections like WACS, Glo1, MainOne, and others.

The ISPs, unlike the mobile network carriers like MTN, Airtel, Globacom, and 9mobile, primarily serve corporate organizations and residences rather than individual mobile consumers.

Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) are not included in this top Internet Service Providers (ISPs) ranking. To put things in perspective, while the MNOs have roughly 150 million users, Internet service providers (ISP) report hundreds of thousands. According to figures from the Nigerian Communications Commission, during the first quarter of 2022, ISPs had a total of 376,740 users (NCC).

It's been a while since our previous ISP rankings were based on Q4 2021 data, but some of the ISPs' positions haven't altered. According to Q1 2022 statistics, certain service providers have seen a rise in client numbers.

As of Q1 2022, these are the top 10 Nigerian Internet Service Providers by many customers:

Spectranet

To enhance internet services in Nigeria, Spectranet received a license from the Nigerian Communications Commission in 2009. As one of the first Internet Service Providers to provide 4G LTE internet service in Nigeria, Spectranet has become a market leader.

The latest statistics from the NCC's website reveal that this firm has the most connected and active users among all licensed Internet service providers. Although the firm had 260,725 consumers connected, there were only 121,281 active customers. There were 630 points of presence for the firm in Nigeria.

VDT Communications

The firm rose from 8th place in our previous rating to 4th place in Q1 2022 as it attracted more clients. VDT had a total of 11,216 connected customers and 7 146 active users, according to NCC statistics.
