Reports circulating online claiming NAFDAC has banned locally made Indomie Instant Noodles in Nigeria have been debunked by the agency, which has affirmed that the product is safe for human consumption. This was announced by the watchdog group on Monday via its Director-General, Professor Mrs Mojisola Adeyeye.


The DG has stated, "NAFDAC did not ban Nigerian-made Indomie Instant Noodles." NAFDAC has approved the safety of Indomie noodles, and numerous local producers have been registered. The noodle manufacturers in Taiwan and Malaysia have nothing to do with the ones in our country.

Thanks to the statement's reassuring tone, customers may rest easy after reading a slew of false reports claiming the product was prohibited by the authority. After health officials in Taiwan and Malaysia claimed to have found ethylene oxide, a carcinogenic substance, in batches of Indomie's "special chicken" flavour, a flood of local publications appeared.

Tope Ashiwaju, Group Corporate Communications and Event Manager at Dufil Prima Foods Limited commented on the matter, saying, "We would like to assure our valued customers in Nigeria that all packs of Indomie Instant Noodles consumed in Nigeria are produced locally under strict international best manufacturing procedures with ISO certified standards."

In all of our production processes, we follow the protocols established by the Nigerian government's Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON). "We use only the finest ingredients, sourced from reputable suppliers, and our production facilities are regularly inspected and audited to ensure that they meet the highest standards," he explained.

Dufil Prima Foods Limited, a Nigerian company, has made Indomie Instant Noodles for the country's residents for almost three decades.
