The 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results have been officially released by the West African Examination Council (WAEC). The results were made public on Monday.


According to Patrick Areghan, the Head of Nigeria’s Office (HNO) of WAEC, out of the total 1,613,733 candidates who took the examination, the results of 262,803 candidates are being withheld due to reported cases of examination malpractice.

Areghan also mentioned that there was an improvement in the pass rate. A total of 1,361,608 candidates, which is 84.38 percent, achieved credit and above in a minimum of five subjects, regardless of whether they included English Language or Mathematics.

Furthermore, 1,287,920 candidates, representing 79.81 percent of the total candidates, obtained credits and above in a minimum of five subjects, including both English Language and Mathematics.
